S-51 / R-5 / H-5 in US Coast Guard

The Sikorsky HO2S-1 / HO3S-1G Dragonfly were first delivered to the Coast Guard in August of 1946 to the Rotary Wing Development Unit based out of CGAS Elizabeth City, NC where they tested a number of innovations that enhanced the helicopters versatility including a rescue basket and emergency flotation bags that were fitted around the landing gear.
