Del'd 13 · Service : 1965 to 2010

The Bell 47 was the first helicopter to enter New Zealand military service as the 47G-3 model, introduced in two batches in Dec 1965 (6 airframes) and 1970 (7 airframes) to RNZAF Hobsonville and known as the Sioux, during its service.  It was originally used as reconnaisance, light utility and basic trainer, before attrition through intensive use restricted its role to basic training.
