Coast Guard and Air Force Joint Training
Aeronautica Militare Italiana, April 24, 2018 - The Italian Air Force (AMI) 72nd Wing at Frosinone hosted the first training flight for a Coast Guard AW139 helicopter crew by Air Force instructors.

This activity is part of an agreement signed February 7, 2018 between the Aeronautica Militare (Air Force) and Corpo delle Capitanerie di Porto Guardia Costiera (Ports Authority) and is the result from the inter-forces and inter-agency view reported in the "White Paper on International Security and Defense" and is an example of optimization of processes and rationalization of resources.

The agreement allows Coast Guard personnel to access the training, qualification and specialization courses organized by the Air Force which in return will have a Coast Guard AW139 based at Frosinone for a maximum of 300 flight hours per year.

The 72nd Wing has the task of helicopter training not only for the Air Force but also for the Italian Army, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza. It also trains other State agencies and foreign countries personnel. The Frosinone base also provides training for future instructors (PIT course - Pilot Instructor Training), specialists and on-board operators.

The Coast Guard Ports Authority has the task of safeguarding human life at sea, the safety of shipping and maritime transport, the protection of the marine environment, its ecosystems and the surveillance activity of the entire fishing chain, from the protection of resources to that of the final consumer. To obtain this, regular inspections are performed on all types of ships that arrived to the national ports.
