Helivert open new service center for AW139
Russian Helicopters, September 14, 2014 - The Russian Helicopters holding and the Italian AgustaWestland (a subsidiary of the Finmeccanica Corporation) are launching a new center to service AW139 helicopters.

The center was established on the basis of the company's joint venture: the HeliVert plant in suburban Tomilino.

HeliVert received a certificate from the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) at a ceremony on September 11, 2014, that permits it to service AW139 helicopters. The event was attended by Head of the Federal Air Transport Agency Alexander Neradko, Chief of Staff of the CEO of Russian Helicopters Holding Yury Kaptelkin, CEO of HeliVert Alexander Kuznetsov, and Russian representative of AgustaWestland Alberto Ponti.

The service center will provide comprehensive customer support and technical service for various modifications of medium-size AW139 helicopters that are in both Russian and Italian production. "The opening of the center's own maintenance center for helicopters is a logical next step in the company's development," noted HeliVert CEO Alexander Kuznetsov. "Opportunities to provide high quality service have given us a competitive edge and allow us to offer helicopter operators the best terms for operating the helicopters that we manufacture."

Before the opening of the service center HeliVert specialists passed comprehensive training in Italy. After the audit carried out by the Commission of Rosaviatsiya, these specialists received permission to conduct full service and maintenance of AW139 helicopters.

HeliVert received a Production Approval Certificate for five AW139 helicopters on the basis of the audit conducted by IAC AR that was valid for a one-year term in May 2012. Production of the first AW139 helicopters at the plant began in June 2012. In accordance with the production certification schedule, a re-audit took place in November 2013. On the basis of the audit results a Production Approval Certificate was issued for AW139 civilian helicopters in January 2014.

Helicopters produced by HeliVert are available to customers in Russia and the CIS countries. The AW139 commercial helicopter can be delivered in different configurations: VIP, passenger service with seating for 12–15, transport, ambulance service, emergency rescue and other applications. The cruising speed of the helicopter can reach 306 km/h. It has a range of 927 km, and it has a flight duration of 5 hours. The AW139 is equipped with two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6C-67C turbine engines that can output 1,679 horsepower. The first AW139 helicopter assembled in Russia took to the air in December 2012.

HeliVert is a joint venture between Russian Helicopters and AgustaWestland. It was established in order to deploy and operate a Russian plant to provide final assembly of the AW139 medium-sized twin-engine helicopter. The main purpose of the joint venture is to meet market needs in Russia and the CIS countries.
