Aero Sekur, June 21, 2015 - Aero Sekur is proud to announce at Paris Airshow full qualification of its AW169 flotation system.
Heli-survival solutions combining external life-raft and emergency flotation systems developed by Aero Sekur are being adopted across the AgustaWestland 139, 169 and 189 helicopters.
With a modular design philosophy at the heart of the range, the qualification is significant as it confirms the robust nature of the Aero Sekur design and development concept and commonality of application across a family of rotorcraft.
The family concept underpinning Aero Sekur’s AW flotation systems ensures commonality which reduces ongoing development and qualification cost. Other benefits include a reduced spare parts inventory, easier maintenance and simplified training.
Scope of work for Aero Sekur has included design, development, qualification and equipment supply. Key components include the company’s Non-Pyrotechnic Inflation System (NPIS). Designed for flotation bag applications, the NPIS avoids many of the problems associated with conventional pyrotechnic systems. Featuring unique valve technology using advanced materials, the system can be used in new airframes or retrofitted to replace existing pyrotechnic installations.
Aero Sekur has a heritage of over fifty years supplying the aerospace industry. Credentials include previous contracts for AgustaWestland and supply of flotation systems to Airbus Helicopters for the H175.
The AW contract draws on the skills of Aero Sekur’s airborne systems division which offers expertise in reduced weight solutions designed for simplified airframe integration and maintenance.
