DRF Luftrettung, June 28, 2022 - The DRF Luftrettung station in Greifswald celebrated its birthday in April 2022. However, the new H145 with five-blade rotor can definitely be seen as a belated gift.

From June 28, 2022, the Greifswald air rescue service will be deployed with the most modern rescue helicopter currently available in civil air rescue.

Before the H145 arrived in Greifswald, the new rescue helicopter could be inspected by thousands of visitors at the Interschutz in Hanover: "We are very pleased that it is our turn," says Bernd Rosenberger, station manager of the DRF Luftrettung in Greifswald, " because we have heard so many positive things from colleagues who are already flying a five-blade machine that we are very excited.”

In addition to the advantage of being able to transport higher payloads, the H145 is even quieter in the air thanks to the fifth rotor blade, which benefits patients and crew. With the commissioning of this modern rescue helicopter, the DRF Luftrettung is consistently pursuing its goal of promoting the development of air rescue.

"The H145 with five-blade rotor not only has less vibration, the larger payload capacity also means for us: We can take on more fuel with this helicopter, which increases the range even further," adds Bernd Rosenberger. In addition, the new Christoph 47 has a special feature: it is equipped with a sand filter to protect the engines and thus avoid faster wear.

dr Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung, explains the background to the modernization of the fleet: β€œThe commissioning of the new H145 with five-blade rotor represents a milestone in air rescue in Germany, and we are very proud of that. We made a very conscious decision to deploy the system as soon as it is available and to be the first to do so. Because it is part of our self-image to advance the further development of air rescue. We always have one goal in mind: to further improve the care of our patients in all areas relevant to air rescue – people, medicine and technology.”

The first H145 helicopter with a five-blade rotor arrived at the DRF Luftrettung shipyard in December 2020 and was converted for station service. Since then, the DRF Luftrettung has continuously added more H145s with five-blade rotors to its fleet. Greifswald is the eighth station to receive a machine of this type.

About Christoph 47 : The station, founded on April 10, 1990, is located at the University Hospital Greifswald. The crews have been flying around the clock since August 3rd, 2020; This makes Christoph 47 the only rescue helicopter in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania that is available around the clock. The station has been operated by the DRF Luftrettung since April 10, 1992. Last year the crews flew 1,546 sorties.
