DRF Luftrettung, December 20, 2019 - Regensburg / Filderstadt. - Over the next five years, the DRF air rescue “Christoph Regensburg”, the intensive care helicopter stationed at the university hospital, will continue to operate.
The Bavarian State Ministry of the Interior, for Sport and Integration, has confirmed the extension of the license.
The intensive care transport helicopter "Christoph Regensburg" is available around the clock for operations in the region as well as throughout Bavaria and has recently been alerted to life-saving operations over 1,400 times a year.
The Bavarian state Ministry of the Interior, for sports and Integration, has now confirmed the extension of the concession for the air rescue station. This means that DRF Luftrettung will continue to operate the red and white H145 aircraft based at the University Hospital for the next five years.
Dr. Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung, is pleased with this expression of trust in the work of the red and white air rescuers: “This shows that our partners in the region recognize and appreciate the excellent work of our crews here in Regensburg. We look forward to being available with our helicopter for the emergency rescue and the fast and gentle transport of seriously ill and injured people in the coming years and to make our contribution to emergency medical care in the Free State of Bavaria. "
The station was founded on September 1, 1994, and since 2015 a state-of-the-art H145 helicopter has been launched as "Christoph Regensburg". The pilots have been using night vision goggles on their night flights since 2011.
"Christoph Regensburg" is operational around the clock and is staffed by a pilot (two at night), an emergency doctor and an emergency medic. Regensburg's air rescuers regularly carry out demanding medical special transports, for example with the “incubator” for critically ill newborns or with the mobile heart-lung machine.
"Christoph Regensburg" is also involved in the "Emergency Doctor for Children - NOKI" project. For this purpose, the medical crews of the Regensburg helicopter received special training for pediatric emergencies.
