Helis, December 04, 2019 - Airbus’s demonstrator for future urban air mobility transport, the CityAirbus, continues preparations for its free flight next year.
The four-seat, self piloted electric vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) aircraft is powered by Siemens electrical engines.
Currently based at the Airbus plant in Donauwörth, it is planned to be moved to Manching where the free flights program can be performed according regulatory rules.
Envisioned for aerial urban ridesharing, will have a cruise speed of 120 Km/h on fixed routes with up to 15 minutes of autonomy.
The CityAirbus was first presented last March 11 at the City of Ingolstadt to members of the German government and the public and achieved first flight on May 3.
