Helibras, June 01, 2016 - Helibras delivered the first of two new police EC145 helicopters to the Secretariat of Public Security of Rio de Janeiro.
These helicopters are considered essential tools for the intelligence system that the state prepares to host the Olympic Games in July and August.
The EC145 was produced by Germany's unit of Airbus Helicopters and in Brazil was equipped with the most modern and advanced security system for C2I.
"Not also a big advance for the operator but an important step for Helibras that has been developing high-tech structures specific to the Brazilian reality. The system is completely new, designed by our engineers and the Rio's EC145 is the first twin-engine aircraft to rely on this development in country", says Dominique Andreani, vice president of Business and Services.
This version includes the installation of a set of equipment for aerial surveillance, tactical police radio, thermal imaging, image recorder, tactical mission console and real-time image transmission. It is fully equipped and able to operate in the security of the Games .
The EC145 also includes a cargo hook, troop seats, searchlight, speakers and helmets with night vision goggles for night operation.
"It's also an evolution for the public security in Rio de Janeiro, which with this EC145 now equals the Metropolitan Police in England which successfully used the same aircraft model during the 2012 Olympic Games in London", says Mauro Ayres government sales manager of the company.
The acquisition of helicopters was signed by Helibras in February 2014 for the supply of the two EC145 with a complete package of pilot training performed by the Training Center of Helibras in Itajubá and a flight simulator training course in instrument flight and mechanical adaptation to the airframe and engine.
The partnership between manufacturer Helibras and the Secretariat of Public Security of RJ is also extended to the maintenance of the two EC145 for two years ensuring the operation of the aircraft.
The second helicopter with the same configuration will be delivered at the end of July.
