Ejercito de Tierra Español, December 19, 2018 - The helicopter HU-10 has been retired on December 12 from the Army at Base "Coronel Maté", Colmenar Viejo (Madrid), where it has flown for the last time.

After 52 years of uninterrupted service and approximately 231,000 flight hours, it has taken off for the last time from the Army Academy of Aviation (ACAVIET) under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Muñoz Bueno and piloted by Commander Zaloña.

After that, the HU-10 has crossed the water corridor that ends its history in the Army, highlighted in national territory and also in the missions abroad in which it has participated over these years.

«Today this veteran leaves with a broad and unblemished sheet of services, after a life given to Spain; and it goes to the reserve with the intimate satisfaction of having its mission accomplished", said Colonel Fuentes, director of ACAVIET.

The first aircraft arrived at the barracks "Los Remedios" -current base "Coronel Maté" - on July 29, 1966. Later the Super Puma and Cougar began to replace the HU-10.

Now he goes to the reserve «surpassed by technical advances but never by demerits of his own», concluded the colonel.
