Airbus Helicopters, April 08, 2026 - Santiago, Chile – Airbus Helicopters has delivered one H135 and one H145 to the Air Prefecture of Carabineros de Chile.

The delivery comes as Airbus celebrates 50 years of supporting Carabineros with its aircraft. The two new helicopters will enter service in the coming weeks following certification by the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC). The H135 will operate in the Coquimbo region, while the newly delivered H145 will serve the Tarapacá region.

These aircraft join an H135 delivered in early 2025 for the Maule region and an H145 delivered at the end of 2025 for the Arica region, bringing the total Carabineros fleet to four H135s and two H145 helicopters. The aircraft will perform multi-mission roles in support of the population, including emergency medical services, public safety, surveillance, and mountain rescue operations.

Pierre Marie Gout, General Manager of Airbus in Chile, said “These new aircraft will carry out critical missions in support of citizens where they are most needed. As we mark 50 years alongside Carabineros de Chile, we remain firmly committed to ensuring the highest levels of availability and reliability of their fleet for the success of their operations”

The Air Prefecture of Carabineros is the aviation branch responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all aerial activities of the institution, including the transport of personnel and equipment, aerial surveillance, and search and rescue. The unit operates from multiple bases across the country, with its main headquarters located at Tobalaba Aerodrome in Santiago. The organization maintains rapid response capabilities, with crews able to be airborne within three minutes of an alert.

The H135 is a light twin-engine helicopter known for its compact design and low maintenance costs. It features a shrouded Fenestron tail rotor for enhanced safety during ground operations.

The H145 is a larger twin-engine helicopter designed for high-altitude performance and demanding missions. Both aircraft are equipped with Helionix digital avionics to reduce pilot workload and improve operational safety in complex environments. Currently, 62 H135s and 122 H145s are in operation across Latin America.
