Helis, August 21, 2020 - First all-female flight crew! Pilot Kai Ficek joined the University of Wisconsin Hospital air ambulance UW Health critical care transport team last week.
Working at the Portage base, she and Flight Physician Cynthia Griffin and Flight Nurse Deb Volgarino had their first call to transport a patient to University Hospital.
UW Health Med Flight is the air ambulance service from University of Wisconsin Hospital serving patients within a 250-mile radius of Madison in Wisconsin covering parts of Iowa, Illinois, Michigan and Minnesota.
With four helicopters in service 24/7, Med Flight logs more than 1,000 flights per year.
Metro Aviation provides the air service since last year.
Metro Aviation will operate 4 EC145e for UW Health Med Flight in 2021
