Brazil’ Civil Aviation Authority, ANAC, certified the H175 for offshore operations. 17 helicopters are already operating in 6 countries

Helibras, November 09, 2017 - Helibras / Airbus Helicopters have just taken another important step in the Brazilian helicopter market. The super medium helicopter H175 was certified by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and can now operate in the country.

The certification started in 2014 with the approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Today there are 17 H175 operating in six countries.

The H175 was specially designed for the Oil & Gas market and offers the best passenger/radius of action (RoA) rating in the medium helicopter category. The twin-turbine model has a big capacity for passenger transport reaching up to 18 people and also having the largest fuel tank in its category.

Among the program milestones recently achieved are EASA certification of a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) extension from 7,500 kg to 7,800 kg, allowing customers to benefit from an additional payload of 300 kg. The extended MTOW offers greater operational flexibility, particularly in highly demanding offshore operations. In addition, EASA has also certified the H175 with Rig'N Fly, an automatic approach procedure for platforms that enhances flight safety, allowing the crew to focus on flight parameters and the external environment.

The H175 exceeds the safety requirements of the Oil & Gas market. The model has, among others, an autonomous cockpit camera with built-in GPS, HUMS integrated as basic equipment in all configurations and extra large windows. It also has the modern Helionix avionics system, which in addition to improving and facilitating the flight, also reduces the cost of maintenance and training for pilots and mechanics by being present in different models of Airbus Helicopters. The system has four multifunctional screens that integrate various functions such as digital map, synthetic vision, increased situational awareness and the most advanced four-axis autopilot on the market.

"We are very happy with this important achievement. Now the Brazilian helicopter market adds another excellent product from Airbus Helicopters. For both civil and public markets, the H175 brings a number of differences in safety, versatility and performance", said Richard Marelli, president of Helibras.

In addition to the O & G version, the H175 is certified to meet the demanding executive market (VIP). Soon, the aircraft will also receive certification for Public Services such as Search and Rescue (SAR), Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Police missions.
