European Cooperation for Helicopter Seats
Autoflug GmbH, May 10, 2023 - DEFEA, Athens - With the signing of a comprehensive cooperation agreement , Deutsche AUTOFLUG GmbH and the Germany- and Greece-based companies ALTHOM GmbH and ALTHOM Engineering E.P.E. have agreed to a long-term partnership in the field of design and development of safety seats, as well as the creation of technical documentation.

The cooperation agreement represents the next step in an existing partnership between the contracting parties since 2019.

While projects were primarily carried out in Hamburg, there will now be another center of expertise in Patras, Greece, where development teams will focus on the design of safety seat systems for helicopters as well as the rapidly growing urban air mobility market.

The range of services is rounded off by the technical documentation, which can be created according to international standards such as S1000D.

Another goal of the agreement is the joint application and subsequent handling of European research projects, focusing on the research and development of additional safety features and the innovative integration of such solutions into the next generation of safety seats.

"Our goal is to establish a long-term partnership and to expand and improve the services and products offered by both companies by combining the strengths of both companies," explains Alkiviadis Thomas, CEO of the ALTHOM GROUP.

"By combining the design and engineering skills of the ALTHOM GROUP and AUTOFLUG, a European nearshoring cooperation is created that focuses on the synergies between European industry partners. Other benefits are access to personnel in both countries and the creation and establishment of European know-how. Combined with a focus on global markets, we are thus improving our competitive position and can further expand the market shares of the partners," Thomas continues.

On the occasion of the contract signing at DEFEA, Martin Kroell, Managing Partner of AUTOFLUG, said: "We look forward to expanding our cooperation and see it as a great opportunity to efficiently combine our shared competencies. This enables us to develop products economically and on-time that will have a significant positive impact on the aviation industry. This cooperation allows us to effectively implement current and future projects and puts us in a strong position in global competition."

Both managing directors emphasized after the signing that they would focus on the development of future products in order to continue to serve as an innovation engine for such an important industry.
