OMNI, July 26, 2021 - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Omni Taxi Aereo (OTA) announced the first global embodiment of HTAWS (helicopter terrain awareness and warning systems) with improved offshore modes on two AW139 aircraft based in Brazil.

This new installation was tested and verified on the ground February 2021, and it is now fully operational following the approval of RFM rev.26 by ANAC in July 2021.

This, more sophisticated version of HTAWS, introduces the recommendations of UK CAA CAP 1519 for optimal use in offshore environments, providing pilots with an earlier warning of a potential collision, a key enabler when recognizing and responding to unsafe flightpath conditions.

“With these initiatives we aim to make offshore flight safety in Brazil state of the art, driving developments in safety technology into our fleet, and offering best in class services for our customers. The two newly equipped AW139s have an exclusive contract with our major customer, Petrobrás, and the implementation is part of OMNI’s investment in enhanced safety procedures,” said Capt Coimbra, OTA CEO.

The installation was performed exclusively by the OTA engineering team with remote assistance from Leonardo Helicopters.
