Rostec, August 25, 2021 - The Russian Helicopters holding of Rostec State Corporation and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation have signed during the Army-2021 international military-technical forum a contract for the supply of the first mass-produced modernized Ka-52M combat helicopters.
The first helicopters will be delivered to the Russian army in 2022 after passing the state joint testings, which started in August.
"The Ka-52 Alligator is one of the best attack helicopters in the world, but even the best equipment needs timely modernization as it expands the combat capabilities of the helicopter", noted Andrey Boginsky, General Director of the Russian Helicopters holding.
"When developing the upgraded version, our designers relied on the experience of operating the Alligator, including in real combat conditions. For this reason, in the improved attack helicopter, everything is designed for increasing combat effectiveness in all weather conditions. In coordination with the Ministry of Defense of Russia, preparation for the production of serial helicopters has already started at the Progress Arsenyev Aviation Company in Primorsky Krai."
The Ka-52M got a modernized avionics complex equipped with computing facilities with better performance. The complex has expanded the applicability of weapons, including at night. The range of detection and recognition of targets at night has doubled.
Advanced missile weapons have been installed and tested on the helicopter. The Ka-52M is suitable for work with UAVs: the data obtained from drones helps to increase the situational awareness of the crew on the battlefield and help to improve the collecting of intelligence at a larger distance.
To increase the efficiency of the helicopter, work is underway to install a radar station with an active phased array antenna (APAR).The combat radius of the helicopter has been increased. The helicopter is also equipped with an upgraded BSK (on-board load control system).
