Air Evac, July 06, 2020 - KIRKSVILLE, MO — Air Evac Lifeteam and University of Missouri Health Care are partnering to provide northern Missouri and southern Iowa residents with rapid air medical transport to a higher level of emergency healthcare.

Air Evac’s Kirksville air medical base, which opened in March 2004, is now MU 4, and the Kirksville crew will continue to serve area residents living within a 70-mile radius.

The aircraft is new, and the brand is new, but our outstanding nurses, paramedics and pilots remain,” said Travis Richards, Program Director. “The new Bell 407 helicopter arrived on July 1, and we are proud to be a part of the MU Health Care family.”

MU 4 is one of four air medical bases with the MU Health Care brand. The others are located in Sedalia, Moberly and Osage Beach. Misty Jones, Director of Emergency Services, said MU Health Care provides medical direction for the clinicians who are on the four helicopters.

“Patients can be assured of the best medical care when they need to be flown for a life- or limb-threatening medial emergency with clinical oversight now provided by MU Health Care physicians,” Jones said.

Richards added that those with AirMedCare Network memberships are still covered if they are flown by MU Health Care.
