Airwork NZ, November 11, 2021 - Auckland, New Zealand - Airwork (NZ) has been granted approval from Honeywell to upgrade LTS101-750B-1 engines to LTS101-850B-2.
The first two conversions have been completed in Airwork’s workshop for a customer in South America.
“We are continuing to see exceptional customer demand for this engine given the benefits it offers to operators,” says MRO Sales Manager Philipp Antwerpen. “The approval to upgrade LTS101-750B-1 to LTS101-850B-2 engines is another step forward for Airwork and a significant addition to our extensive MRO capabilities.”
Airwork is the sole STC holder of the BK117-850D2, which allows operators to install Honeywell LTS101-850B-2 engines into BK117 B2 helicopters.
There are a number of benefits for operators to carry out this STC:
- Increased hot and high utilization capability for BK117 B2 helicopters.
- Increased Hot Section Inspection interval from 1800hrs to 2400hrs.
- Increased LTS101-850B-2 engine pool.
- Easy Installation of less than three working days.
To date, Airwork has upgraded more than 70 BK117 B2s with this STC.
