Rostec, August 24, 2020 - The Russian Helicopters holding, part of the Rostec State Corporation, has begun mass production of the updated Mi-35P combat helicopters at the Rostvertol company.

The first prototype of the helicopter completed the program of typical flight tests, confirming the announced performance characteristics and the correctness of the implemented design changes.

During the tests, carried out by Rostvertol and the National Helicopter Center named after M.L. Mil and N.I. Kamov, the Mi-35P performed a number of flights using new weapons and onboard equipment. As a result of the tests, changes were made to the set of design certificationn for the helicopter, and confirming the possibility of mass production.

“The Mi-35P was developed in cooperation with Rostec companies and combines the best qualities of the legendary Mi-24 family, hardened in air battles all over the world, and the latest Russian developments in the field of avionics. Last year, we demonstrated this aircraft to a number of potential customers, and today we can say with confidence that the helicopter is in demand - today the serial production of the Mi-35P has begun under the first contract with a foreign customer, ”said the general director of the Russian Helicopters holding »Andrey Boginsky.

The improved Mi-35P is equipped with an upgraded sighting system with a 3rd generation long-wavelength matrix thermal imager, a high-resolution color television camera and a laser designator.

The helicopter is also equipped with modern “3+” generation night vision goggles and a set of external and internal lighting equipment adapted for the use of these glasses. In addition, a new digital flight complex was installed on the helicopter, which improved the controllability, stability of the helicopter, and automated the piloting process to simplify the pilot's actions. The modified sighting and computing system has increased the accuracy of hitting targets.

The Mi-35P is armed with a mobile 23 mm double-barreled cannon, S-8 unguided missiles, it is also possible to install suspended containers with 23 mm cannons, S-13 unguided missiles, Attack anti-tank guided missiles with a two-channel control system, or missiles 9K121 Vikhr (AT-16 Scallion / Whirlwind).

The flight characteristics of the Mi-35P in combination with a complex of flight and navigation equipment allow the helicopter to fly at any time of the day in simple and limited weather conditions, both according to the rules of visual flight and according to the rules of instrument flight in various physical and geographical conditions, including and over non-orientated terrain.

At the same time, the helicopter retains the round-the-clock capability of using guided and unguided weapons. The new Mi-35P design provides a high combat survivability and also reduces the labor intensity of maintenance.
