Air Methods, March 13, 2023 - DENVER, CO – Air Methods, the nation’s leading air medical service provider, announced today that Minuteman EMS, which provides emergency medical care for wilderness firefighters, is making the Ascend critical care clinician education program available online to its paramedics and EMTs to advance their skills in patient care.
Based in Rapid City, S.D., Minuteman EMS is a veteran-owned and operated company. In addition to serving at wildfires across the country, it contracts with the Indian Health Service to staff the ambulance service on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
“Minuteman EMS is excited to make this world-class, evidence-based medical education available to team members in an easy-to-use platform,” said owner Tyler Olson. “We operate in remote areas under extreme and dangerous conditions, so we are continuously looking for ways to improve our skills to ensure we are providing the safest and most effective care to patients.”
The Ascend in-person and online education programs provide access to world-class educators, state-of-the-art tools, and cutting-edge technologies to help pre-hospital and critical care clinicians build their knowledge, enabling them to operate at the top of their licensure and fulfill continuing education requirements.
Education programs include both advanced manikin-based simulation and virtual reality training that mirror real-world patient care scenarios, building life-saving skills and confidence. Courses meet certification requirements for Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN), Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE) and International Board of Specialty Certifications (IBSC).
