Brazilian Navy, April 05, 2021 - The Brazilian Navy 1st General Employment Helicopter Squadron (EsqdHU-1) received at São Pedro da Aldeia (RJ) airbase the sailors who made up the embedded aerial detachment (Destacamento Aéreo Embarcado, DAE) for OPERANTAR XXXIX, on March 27 .
Formed by 4 officers and 10 NCOs with the N-7090 and N-7091 helicopters model UH-17 (EC135T3 / H135), the DAE operated from the Polar Ship “Almirante Maximiano” and the Oceanographic Support Ship “Ary Rongel” during the 174 days duration of the mission.
During this period, the Navy's newest aircraft, the UH-17, were used for the first time in the Antarctica helping transport material to supply the Comandante Ferraz Antarctic Station and contributing to national objectives in the glacial continent.
