The ceremony was presided by the Minister of the Superior Military Tribunal (STM), Aviation Lieutenant Brigadier William de Oliveira Barros.
"This highly remarkably unit that is the Pelicano Squadron bears a very big responsibility which is to save lives. And this brings us responsibility not only to the Air Force, but also to the entire Brazilian population", commented the official-general.

In addition, the H-60L Black Hawk helicopter was incorporated into service with the Pelicano Squadron with the 2nd/10th GAV emblem on the aircraft doors. This helicopter replaced the venerable H-1H.
"After 61 years of service including some changes of home bases and aircraft, we realize that it is not the place where we work, not the aircraft we fly that defines us, but a unique feeling of unity and determination in the mission to save lives that we called SAR Spirit", said Squadron Commander, Aviation Lieutenant-Colonel Luciano Marchiorato Dobignies.
The ceremony was completed with a military parade which included the former members and friends of the 2nd/10th GAV.
