Britannica KS, July 28, 2015 - PHI, Inc., one of the world’s leading helicopter services companies, has purchased Britannica Knowledge Systems’ commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software platform, the Fox Training Management System.
The system went live last week as a production environment for managing training and scheduling.
Fox was chosen to enhance PHI’s training operation in support of its core values: safety, quality, efficiency and customer service. The scope of Britannica’s project for PHI encompasses system design, configuration, training, maintenance and support.

PHI selected Fox to deliver a reliable mechanism for managing training data in order to easily track, maintain, notify and report certification and regulatory compliance.
PHI will also use Fox to manage training program schedules and resources through its automated tools that synchronize physical equipment and teaching space with human instructor availability. These tools not only help increase throughput and decrease spending, they have the ability to enhance the training itself.
“The system coordinates not just pilot availability, it matches the experience and trained attributes of the two individuals so that they are the most appropriate pair to learn from each other,” said Terry Myers, PHI’s Director of Training.
The systemized training data Fox houses will also be vital to safer pilot and flight operations, achieved through training enhancement. Fox’s mobile online or offline electronic evaluation engine, used on iPads or Android tablets, will help PHI to quickly capture data in real-time.
Fox’s analytical dashboards will enable PHI to closely monitor and more deeply understand all aspects of their training operations for continuous, accurate and timely training improvement.
