PHI Reaches 20K Fleet Hours with S-92

Sikorsky, December 03, 2007 - LAFAYETTE, Louisiana - Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. customer PHI, Inc. achieved 20,000 fleet hours with the Sikorsky S-92® helicopter. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp.

Since the 1950s, Louisiana-based PHI has flown Sikorsky helicopters, offering services to the offshore oil and gas, onshore mining, international, air medical and technical services industries. Sikorsky delivered the first two production S-92 helicopters to PHI in late 2004. PHI, a pioneer in deepwater helicopter operations, introduced the operation of the S-92 helicopter to the energy industry. By year's end, PHI will have ten S-92 helicopters in its fleet with plans for continued deliveries through 2010.

"Our customers prefer the safety, speed, reliability and unequaled passenger comfort of a true stand-up cabin that the S-92 helicopter offers," said PHI's Director of Corporate Development Pete Sorenson.

"PHI's mounting fleet hours, year over year, has been a continuing success story for the S-92 helicopter," said Sikorsky President Jeffrey Pino. "Offshore oil operators fly these aircraft in very challenging conditions, underscoring the significance of this latest fleet hour achievement. It is more evidence that the S-92 helicopter is a reliable, tough aircraft."

The S-92 helicopter is a multi-mission medium helicopter used in a variety of roles including offshore oil, executive transport, search and rescue, and airline. It is the first helicopter in the world certified to the latest U.S. Federal Aviation Administration and European Joint airworthiness safety standards. The S-92 helicopter also features a Rotor Ice Protection System (RIPS), which allows the aircraft to operate in known icing conditions.
