Helis, January 22, 2019 - The French Navy deployed again the Schiebel Camcopter S-100 drone aboard the Mistral class amphibious assault ship Dixmude (L9015).
Known as Système Embarqué de Reconnaissance Vecteur Aérien Léger (SERVAL, Embarked Light Airborne Recognition System), a new S-100 with serial number 4, performed first flights aboard the helicopter carrier.
The French Navy performed its first trials with this unmanned aerial system (UAS) aboard Dixmude in 2017.
A complete new batch of trials is scheduled to take place in 2019, with two S-100 fitted with automatic identification systems and MX-10 optronic payloads.
To allow this, Dixmude will receive a new set of antennas and navigation systems including a link with the ship's combat system SENIT 9. Modifications will be completed with new maintenance space in the low deck hangar.
