Second Upgraded Brazilian Lynx Flying in Yeovil
Brazilian Navy, June 28, 2018 - The second of the eight Brazilian Navy Super Lynx helicopters undergoing modernization, successfully completed its first flight on June 21 at Leonardo plant located in Yeovil, United Kingdom

The helicopter, N-4004, is estimated to ship to Brazil in September 2018.

The "Super Lynx" Mk21B is equipped with two CTS800-4N, the same engines used by the AW159 "Wildcat" of the British Royal Navy. Due to the various improvements made, these engines provide the aircraft with a great improvement in performance, especially in hot environments, increasing the aircraft's payload and enabling it to fulfill its mission more efficiently.

A new digital glass cockpit will be complemented by advanced avionics that include a tactical processor, satellite-based navigation system, traffic crash prevention system (TCAS), automatic identification system (AIS), radar alert receiver (RWR) / electronic warfare measures (MAGE) integrated with countermeasure dispensers ( Chaff / Flare ). The cockpit is compatible with night vision goggles (NVG) and the aircraft is also fitted with a new electric rescue hoist.

As a result of their new features, these aircraft used from escort ships, will greatly expand the Squadron's ability to conduct surveillance operations, maritime interdiction and actions against surface and submarine threats, as well as supporting relief operations and other humanitarian actions, throughout the "Blue Amazon" and in any other area where the Navy activities are required.
