Entrol, January 25, 2023 - Entrol will install the device based on the Bell 429 by mid-2023 in Surf Life Saving Queensland's base in Archerfield Airport, on the eastern coast of Australia.

This simulator will be equipped with real GTN 750 and GTN 650 units, Entrol's cylindrical visual system with a 200º x 40º FOV, Entrol's high-end vibration system to replicate in-flight scenarios and a forward-looking infrared camera based on FLIR.

"We are proud of the trust Surf Life Saving Queensland has deposited in us. Installing our first simulator in the continent will be a great achievement for us; we are happy to have reached our goal with Surf Life Saving Queensland", states Nacho Navacerrada, Head of Sales of Entrol.

“Some of the benefits to Surf Life Saving Queensland pilots utilising the Entrol FTD device based on the Bell 429 include improved safety and emergency procedure training, cost efficiencies, variable scenario selections and the ability to integrate and train with other aircrew procedures and activities”, said Ken Clark OAM, Surf Life Saving Queensland’s General Manager Aviation.

With the installation of this device, Entrol will have a presence on five continents, achieving an important milestone for the company.

Surf Life Saving Queensland

From humble beginnings, when the first official rescue was recorded on a Queensland beach in 1909, Surf Life Saving Queensland (SLSQ), which was formally established in 1930, has developed into a ground-breaking and highly innovative organisation.

SLSQ has 58 surf lifesaving clubs with members patrolling 8,000 kilometres of the Queensland coastline from Port Douglas to Rainbow Bay. More than 36,000 Queenslanders are volunteer members of a surf lifesaving club and almost 500,000 are a member of an affiliated supporters club. Our vision: zero preventable deaths in Queensland public waters.

The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service is a vital part of SLSQs lifesaving capability. Affectionately referred to as SLSQs “eyes in the sky”, the service patrols the Queensland coastline from Rainbow Beach to Rainbow Bay. The service has been operating across South-East Queensland since 1976, making it one of the oldest community-based helicopter rescue services in the world.

Forty-four paid and volunteer crew members operate Lifesaver 45 and Lifesaver 46 patrol every weekend and during peak periods, including school holidays. They are also available to be tasked by emergency service organisations 7 days a week.

The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service patrols the South East Queensland coast and carries out beach surveillance, shark warnings, preventative actions, missing person searches and rescues in the water and on the beach. The service is also used for emergency response, searches and rescues, working in conjunction with emergency service organisations including the Queensland Police Service, Australian Maritime Safety Authority, and Queensland Fire & Emergency Services.
