Brazilian Navy, June 09, 2016 - On May 22, an UH-15 Super Cougar helicopter from Brazilian Navy 2nd General Employment Helicopters Squadron (HU-2) was activated to perform a Aeromedical Evacuation (MedEvac) near Aiuruoca in the Minas Gerais (MG) state.

A naval infantry soldier from the Comando da Tropa de Reforço (TrRef) was in serious condition after suffering a car accident traveling between Três Corações (MG) to Rio de Janeiro (RJ).

The helicopter took off, in a night flight, from Naval Air Station São Pedro da Aldeia (BAeNSPA) in Rio de Janeiro for the city of Aiuruoca carrying doctors of the Naval Polyclinic of São Pedro da Aldeia (PNSPA).

The injured soldier, who was already admitted in a local hospital, was then transported in the military helicopter to the Naval Hospital Marcilio Dias (HNMD) in Rio de Janeiro.

On May 24, another aeromedical evacuation was carried out by the Brazilian Navy. The HU-2 Squadron, again employing an UH-15 helicopter, performed the MedEvac of a crew member with a suspected stroke from the Tank Landing Ship NDCC Garcia D'Avila (G29)

After the activation of the alert crew, and carrying the PNSPA's medical team, the helicopter took off from BAeNSPA for Vitória airport in Espirito Santo state where was refueled and continue to the ship which was approximately 35 nautical miles east of the state capital
