French registered trawler Jeanne Gougy departed from Irish fishing grounds on 2 Nov for Dieppe, running into rough weather off the west coast of Cornwall. The trawler was driven onto the rocks at Lands End.
As well as Coastguard and RNLI crews, a 22 Squadron Whirlwind from RAF Chivenor was called on scene. Only 6 were able to be rescued from the crew of 18.
