From 1945 442 was a fighter/fixed wing Squadron. In 1964 the Squadron disbanded.
In 1968 the 121 Composite Unit renamed to 442 Squadron.

442 squadron crew wins the 2011 Cormorant Trophy, 05-Dec-11 : 442 Squadron crew and AW101 “Cormorant” helicopter work as one in darkness to winch hiker trapped 1,600 meters up a B.C. mountain in 85 kph winds.
