    History of UK F10 HMS Aurora

    1961-jun-1Laid down
    1966-sepAircraftc 1100nm WNW of Luanda Accident assigned Wasp HAS.1 XS540 as 829 NAS Aurora Flt/455-AU, until lost W of Angola, after catastrophic in flight engine failure and fire on 17 Apr 1968.
    1968-aprAircrafttransferred 829 NAS Wasp XT434 in from HMS Gurkha to replace XS540. HMS Gurkha was heading back to the UK whilst HMS Aurora was preparing for a Beira Patrol and subsequent Far East deployment, until she returned to the UK in Nov 1969
    1968-mayDeploymentMozambique Channel Beira Beira Patrol in Mozambique Channel, enforcing UN sanctions.
    1972-janDeploymentAssigned to STANAVFORLANT until Jul 1972.
