1984-mar-29	Laid down	Swan Hunter (Neptune) originally to be named HMS Bruiser, Yard No 123
1986-mar-26	Launched
1987-aug	Trials	contractors speed trials.
1988-jul-26	Commissioned
1991-jan-10	Deployment	Task Group 323.2 departed HMNB Portsmouth, in company with HMS Ark Royal as part of TG 323.2 for the eastern Mediterranean, to operate with US 6th Fleet for the defence of western flank of forces during Desert Shield/Storm and the supporting Armilla Patrol.
1991-sep	Aircraft	assigned 815 Sq Lynx HAS.3 ZD256/352-SD until c May 1992
1996-aug	Deployment	Task Group TG 333.01 departed from HMNB Portsmouth at end Aug 1996 escorting HMS Invincible and in company with RFA Fort Grange for exercises in Mediterranean and Persian Gulf (from Nov) before returning to Portsmouth in Dec.
1998-jun	Deployment	West Indies Guardship departed HMNB Devonport for 6 month WIGS deployment
