Built from 1935 on a tract of land enclosed by railway lines as an Exhibition Centre and indoor pool, Earls Court opened in Sep 1937. It hosted events such as the Ideal Home Exhibition, the London Boat Show, the Motor Show and numerous Royal Tournaments but came under pressure from other national venues such as the NEC in Birmingham and latterly by the Excel Exhibtion Centre beside Royal Victoria Dock.
It closed in 2014 and demolition began in 2015. The site was still vacant in 2024.
