Previous named Bates field. In 1929 Bates field opened on a another location nowadays named Mobile Downtown Airfield. In 1938 Bates field moved to this location and at the old airport renamed Brookley Army Air Field. The Coast Guard houses from 1966 and named there site on the field CGAS Mobile.
