Created as Adak Army Airfield in 1942. In 1943 was renamed Davis Army Airfield. It was designated a National Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987 for its role in the Second World War.
Davis AAF became Davis AFB after the creation of the USAF and in 1950 was finally transferred to the US Navy and rename Naval Air Facility Adak until its closure on March 31, 1997.
