Santa Barbara Channel, Block 241 - Dos Cuadras Field, Offshore California, California |
The Dos Cuadras Field was discovered in late 1968 by Union Oil, in the Lower Pliocene Pico Formation at c 2300ft deep. A sea floor blow out while Alpha was drilling in Jan 1969 caused a major environmental disaster around Santa Barbara and more effective offshore legislation was introduced.
Following the clean up, subsequent drilling in Jul 1972 revealed a further reservoir in the Miocene Monterey Formation from c 9500ft depth.
Production from the field is provided by this platform, Dos Cuadras B, Dos Cuadras C and Hillhouse.
