Model History:

Military version of the SA 330J Puma, both based on the SA 330H. Main rotors of glass fibre and carbon fibre composite materials with a stainless steel leading edge covering over a honeycomb structure filler. Powered by twin Turboméca Turmo IVC engines, with an empty weight of 3615kg. All weather operation equipment includes thermal de-icing of main and tail rotors, lengthened and filtered twin air intakes which are also de-iced and a weather radar. Primary fuel tanks have self sealing underside walls and provision for 4 additional tanks within the cabin plus external points for 2 tanks. A removable panel beneath the main cabin rear serves as an emergency exit, whilst also allowing longer loads to be carried.

gendarmerie OL-G02 : ex F-WYMZ. To Belgium coded OT-GIB. Upgraded to SA330L and recoded OL-GIB. Major maintenance at manufacturer 1993, returned to service. Withdrawn May 1998.
    1240 aer chór na hÉireann 242 : Originally ordered as a VIP version of the SA 330C for the Ethopian AF, (serial 850, but not delivered?) Reworked to SA 330L Puma standard and became F-WRQK, then F-BRQK in Jul 1980. Delivered to IAC 22 Jul 1981 as 242.
aérospatiale F-ZLAT : IAC returned c/n 1240 to Aérospatiale in Feb 1983.
    1265 1974 gendarmerie OL-G03 : Built as SA330C, to Belgium coded OT-GIC summer 1974.  Upgraded to SA330L and recoded OL-G03. w/o at Lyon 15 Dec 1993 when returning Puma crews to Belgium.
    1587 1978 prefectura naval argentina PA-11 : Badly damaged 1/12/97 by a storm in Mar del Plata airshow Aerplata 97 when hit a P-3B Orion (both aircraft parked) Sent to France to be repaired and return in 1999. Crash in ocean 3/20/00 during evacuation of shipping boat "Fueguino" 200 miles off coast, was rescue days later. Current stored waiting restoration
    1591 1978 prefectura naval argentina PA-12 : captured by the british in malvinas/falklands war
royal air force ZE449 : ex argentine coast guard PA-12 was converted to Puma HC.1 in 2001 and participate on operation Iraq Freedom in 2003 with 33 squadron
    1598 1978 prefectura naval argentina PA-13 : in service, normally deployed at Mar Del Plata (MDQ) coast guard station
