The Cierva C.40 (Rota II) was an improvement on the C.30 (Rota I), with 2 side-by-side seats and a more powerful 180hp Salmson engine. An initial block of 5 was ordered (L7589, K7590, L7591, L7594 & L7595) by 1938 and at least G-AFDP & G-AFDR were impressed to service in Nov 1945.
C.40 T1419 and C.40A P9639 (c/ns unknown) were also used.
