Argentina Signs LoI for Indian Helicopters
HAL, July 20, 2023 - Bengaluru - HAL and the Ministry of Defence of The Republic of Argentina have signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) on productive cooperation and acquisition of Light and Medium Utility Helicopters for the armed forces of the Argentine Republic. The LoI was signed here today by Mr Jorge Taiana, Argentinian Defence Minister and Mr C B Ananthakrishnan, CMD, HAL in the presence of Mr Francisco Cafiero, Secretary of International Affairs, Ambassador Hugo Javier Gobbi, Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia and other senior officers from Argentinian side and HAL.

The Argentinian Defence Minister remarked that the day was interesting and a step on the road to an ever growing and strong collaboration with HAL.

CMD HAL and other senior officers of HAL briefed the visiting dignitaries on various activities of HAL and a presentation was made on the occasion.

During the day-long program, the Argentinian Defence Minister and his team viewed the flying display of various HAL products at HAL Airport. The team also paid a visit to LCA, Helicopter Divisions and evinced keen interest in HAL products.

Argentine Government, July 20, 2023 - Continuing his tour of India, Defense Minister Jorge Taiana traveled to the city of Bangalore where he visited the facilities of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) company to sign a letter of intent for productive cooperation in order to renew the fleet of Light and Medium Utility helicopters for the Armed Forces.

During her visit to the HAL company, Taiana and her entourage were able to learn about the technological and productive capacities developed by this company, they toured the different plants where helicopters and combat planes are manufactured in their "Tejas" model and observed an in-flight display of different aircraft models.

The letter of intent signed today by Minister Taiana together with the president and general director of HAL, CB Anathakrishnan, has the purpose of cooperating before the request of the Armed Forces of Argentina for the renewal of its fleet of Light and Medium Utility helicopters. That is why Argentina has expressed its interest in incorporating the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) model through a productive cooperation project.

It should be remembered that cooperation with the HAL company has grown a lot, an agreement was recently signed with the Air Force for the maintenance of the engines of its Lama helicopters and an agreement was also signed with the Argentine Aircraft Factory (FAdeA) for joint development in the aerospace sector.

During his last day in the Asian country, the Minister of Defense also held a meeting with representatives of IDEX India, an organization that brings together different start-up companies dedicated to development and technological innovation for Defense.

At the end of the tour of India, Taiana said: "These activities, added to the bilateral meetings held with the Minister of Defense, have strengthened the ties of trust and cooperation between the two countries, while providing a platform to develop new opportunities for joint work in the field of defense."

Also present was the Secretary of International Affairs for Defense, Francisco Cafiero; the Argentine ambassador to India, Hugo Javier Gobbi and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of India, Dinesh Bhatia.
