Toll Group Signs for Eight AW139s
AgustaWestland, February 27, 2015 - AgustaWestland and Australia’s Toll Group are pleased to announce the purchase of eight AW139 intermediate twin-engine helicopters.

The aircrafts will be operated to perform Emergency Medical Service (EMS) missions in the Southern Region of New South Wales from the newly constructed base in Bankstown (Sydney), Orange, Wollongong and from the existing base in Canberra under a contract part of the newly established Helicopter Retrieval Network in New South Wales.

The contract was signed today during the Australian International Air Show at Avalon, southwest of Melbourne.

In addition to this order, Toll’s base in Bankstown, will become an AgustaWestland Authorized Training Center for the AW139 providing Australia’s first AW139 Level D Full Flight Motion Simulator. The base will also include facilities for maintenance, crew training, the latest high fidelity virtual reality crewman and integrated crew training simulator and a Full Helicopter Underwater Escape Training Facilities.

The AW139 is a new generation helicopter that sets new standards of safety, comfort and performance in the intermediate twin-engine helicopter market. Designed with inherent multi-role capability and flexibility of operation, the AW139 has the most spacious cabin and the best power reserve of any helicopter in its class. The internal dimensions of the AW139s roomy unobstructed cabin make it an ideal choice for EMS applications. The flat floor, large cabin doors and unobstructed cabin provide easy and quick access for stretchers and survivors. The new technology Honeywell Primus Epic® fully integrated avionics package, a four-axis digital AFCS and large flat panel color displays in the cockpit, reduce pilot workload and allow the crew to concentrate on the demanding missions they are often tasked to perform.

The AW139 has become the benchmark intermediate twin-engine helicopter with orders for more than 800 helicopters having been placed by over 220 commercial and government customers in over 60 countries. The AW139 performs a wide range of roles including search and rescue, emergency medical services, offshore transport, VIP/corporate transport, law enforcement, homeland security and utility. Particularly, the AW139 has rapidly become the intermediate twin-engine helicopter of choice for search and rescue and Emergency Medical Service missions having already been selected by customers in Asia, Middle East, Europe, North America, Australasia and Africa.

AgustaWestland has a long history of providing state-of-the-art helicopters to both commercial and government customers in Australia and New Zealand where, other than the helicopters already in operation, 24 new AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters are on order for deliveries covering 2015 and 2016.
