Bel Air Signs Contract for Two AW189 Helicopters
AgustaWestland, December 12, 2011 - AgustaWestland, a Finmeccanica company, is pleased to announce that Bel Air of Denmark has signed a contract for two AW189 helicopters. The aircraft will be used for offshore oil and gas transport missions in the North Sea.

Bel Air is the latest offshore oil and gas operator to select the new AW189 helicopter to meet its future long range operational requirements, within a few months of the official launch of the type in June 2011.

This order highlights Bel Air’s confidence in the capabilities and cost effectiveness of the AW189, the latest addition to the AgustaWestland family of new generation helicopters. Bel Air currently has in service and on order a number AW139s to perform offshore transport. Complementing the AW139, the larger AW189 will expand the mission capabilities Bel Air can offer its customers in the offshore oil and gas transportation markets whilst being the only helicopter in its class to comply with the very latest safety standards.

The AW189 was launched in response to the growing market demand for a versatile, affordable, multi-role helicopter in the 8-tonne class and has rapidly found success for long range missions, especially in the offshore oil and gas market. Entering service in early 2014, the twin engine AW189 helicopter is optimised for long range offshore transport and SAR missions. The spacious cabin is configured with 16 seats as standard with the option for a high density 18 seat layout or an ultra long range 12 seat configuration.

Exceptional external visibility and the deployment of the latest in avionics technology make the AW189 the pilot’s choice. The cockpit design, incorporating the latest in advanced situational awareness technologies, will reduce crew workload and enhance safety. The AW189 will meet the very latest international regulatory safety requirements (EASA / FAA Part 29, JAR OPS 3 / EU-OPS). The AW189 will benefit from the extensive and expanding AgustaWestland worldwide support network already serving the offshore oil and gas industry. A comprehensive array of simulator and training devices will progressively be made available to serve the worldwide AW189 customer base.

Bel Air was established in 1994 and is now a leading Danish owned helicopter company providing various helicopter services including transport to offshore oil & gas platforms and wind farms, charter, VIP transport, cargo, maintenance and training. Bel Air is also an authorized service centre for the AW139 in Denmark.
