Air Methods, March 26, 2015 - DENVER - United Rotorcraft, an Air Methods Division, announced today a new contract to complete an Airbus EC130 T2 emergency medical services (EMS) demonstrator for Airbus Helicopters, Inc. in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The aircraft completion will take place at United Rotorcraft’s Decatur, Texas facility and will include medical interior, avionics, exterior lighting accessories, and full aircraft paint at United Rotorcraft’s newly constructed 6,600-square-foot paint booth.

“United Rotorcraft is proud to partner with Airbus on the EC130 T2 EMS demonstrator and marketing program. This program also allows United Rotorcraft to leverage our position as the first EC130 T2 interior kit with a Federal Aviation Administration-approved Supplemental Type Certificate (STC), as well as highlighting our unique product line,” said Frank Graham, United Rotorcraft's senior director of global sales and marketing. “We are confident our highly capable interior and external products will contribute to the EC130 T2’s popularity and success both domestically and globally.”

The aircraft is a part of Airbus’s EMS demonstrator program that will include a multi-city tour across the United States this summer demonstrating the next generation air medical service capabilities of its EC130 T2.

"The EC130 T2 is the next generation single-engine aircraft that can provide both high performance and lower costs for the air medical industry," said Treg Manning, Airbus Helicopters' vice president of sales and marketing. "The T2 provides a more accessible and roomier working environment and unparalleled flexibility in equipment configuration, not to mention upgraded safety features that are standard with this helicopter. We are excited about the upcoming tour and the opportunity to showcase this aircraft to our friends in the air medical industry."

United Rotorcraft’s newly Federal Aviation Administration-approved medical interior includes the Lowered Patient Loading System (LPLS) to easily load and secure patients and neonatal isolettes for transport. On board medical systems include a 10 Liter Liquid Oxygen (LOX) system, integrated compressed air, suction, and tailored mounts to accommodate carry-on medical equipment as well as AC power.
