Georgia MIA, March 14, 2024 - The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has received a new Airbus H145 helicopter for its border police division.

The helicopter was delivered at the Airbus Helicopters facility in Germany, attended by Deputy Head of the Border Police, Giorgi Malania, and Director of the Special Purpose Aviation Division, Ioseb Arjevanishvili.

Equipped with firefighting and mountain rescue gear, the helicopter is highly maneuverable and tailored to Georgia's mountainous terrain. It shares similarities with helicopters in service with police and emergency services in Germany, Switzerland, France, Canada, and other countries.

Currently, pilots and flight technicians from the Border Police's Special Purpose Aviation Division are undergoing comprehensive training at the Airbus Helicopters training academy in Germany. Training is set to conclude on March 15, after which the helicopter will be transported to Georgia by the Georgian crew.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs signed an agreement with Airbus Helicopters on December 19, 2022, for the purchase of three H145 helicopters. The delivery of the next two helicopters is scheduled for June 2024
