In August we had several authorities visiting our facility. The FAA (Federal Aviation Authority) came for their recurrent evaluations in the beginning of the month. Next, we were visited by the UK CAA for their recurrent evaluations. As well as Traficom (Finnish CAA), who honored us with their presence for H145 recurrent evaluation and FSTD department safety and compliance management audit.
All audits and evaluations went extremely well, our devices are in peak condition.
In addition to authorities visiting us for audits, our Head of Safety and Compliance also audits our external service providers. We are in the process of auditing the organizations that provide real aircrafts for our Type Rating courses, as well as our simulator OEM’s. These audits give us a good opportunity to improve our cooperation, and the processes that relate to improving safety and quality of training.
Producing a documentary
This summer, Coptersafety has been producing "From the Ground Up" a short documentary film about three helicopter pilots in different sectors of the rotor industry. Learn where their stories began, why they also became instructors, the types of operations they fly and how they train for them.
We’ll be sharing sneak peeks on our social media. Stay tuned for the official announcement, and film screenings in cities such as Helsinki, Los Angeles, and more coming soon.
You can catch our Commercial Director at upcoming events such as the Military Helicopter Conference in Warsaw, and AMTC23 in Ohio during October. In November, our team will be heading to Dubai Airshow, and Madrid for European Rotors 2023. At European Rotors two of our team members will be giving presentations.
On Tuesday, November 28th, our Chief Theoretical Knowledge Instructor, Matt Presnal, will be part of the Future of Simulation session. He will be focusing on the importance of using simulation devices in training.
On Wednesday, November 29th, our Head of Training, Mikko Kallio, will be presenting The Use of Automation in Helicopters, to discuss the how automation should be used, how to train, what happens to manual flying skills when the use of automation is increased, and more.
