helicopters and fixed wing aircraft of the service perform SAR, surveillance and support missions
The Servicio de Aviación traces its origins to 1946 when a small group of officers was sent to take the Naval Aviation pilot course. They learned to fly on the Boeing N2S Kaydet and North American SNJ of the Argentinean Navy which transferred the first aircraft: 3 Grumman JRF Goose. In 1951 received its first helicopter a Sikorsky S-51 Dragonfly.
The PNA air group also have CASA C.212MP fixed wing aircraft for  maritime patrol and support missions.
