Originally formed as a Royal Navy unit between Aug 1943 and Dec 1945. Reformed as a RAN unit on 13 Jan 1958 at Nowra as a fixed wing Fleet Requirements and Communications unit, it became an ASW training unit in May 1959, before disbanding into 724 Squadron in May 1961. Reformed on 1 Nov 1962 at Nowra, this time as a rotary wing anti-submarine squadron with Wessex HAS.31. It shadowed and supported 817 Squadron during much of this period. It disbanded on 27 Dec 1975.  |
