| 1964-06-06 | Appeared in the long-running 'Look at Life' series, 1964 episode 'Flying to work' Flown by Sebastian Ferranti between his home and factory, 10 miles apart. The helicopter was stored in its own hangar next to the house. Ferranti had a radio remote control for the hangar, which would open the door, and bring the helicopter out to him on a moving platform, from which it could take off and land, so it could be stowed back in the hanger. Using the remote, he could stow the platform and close the hangar as he departed. There's not a lot of info, but Ferranti's obituary was published in The Telegraph, 26 October 2015. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obituaries/11939157/Sebastian-de-Ferranti-businessman-obituary.html This includes a photograph of Ferranti next to G-ASEW, with the radio remote in his hand. | ||
