Buffalo was discovered in 1995 and first oil was produced in 1999, until it was terminated in 2004 and decommissioned in 2005. More advanced exploration techniques around 2017, revealed further producable oil when the Buffalo 10 platform penetrated the Jurassic Elang Formation. The re-generation programme is being run from Dili.
