During World War 2, the US established a Naval Air Station here, which passed to France at the end of the war. The French closed BA152 at the end of Apr 1961 and ownership passed to the Moroccan Government. International civilian flights were transferred to Agadir Al Massira International Airport in 1991 and the base reverted to military operations.
