Built in 1953 as a cold war fighter base. After the French left the military framework of NATO around 1967, the US withdrew and the Armee de l Air sporadically operated the site as a training base until it was sold commercially in 2000.
It currently operates charter flights and cargo services and rather like London Luton, someone in marketing changed its name to the rather aspirational Paris Châlons Vatry.
